Welcome to The Houston Eating Disorders Center, serving Houston and surrounding communities. Our mission is to offer excellence in treatment in a caring and dignified environment and to serve as a comprehensive center for outpatient services for those suffering from eating disorders in the greater Houston area.

HEDC has been established to provide intermediate levels of care to patients who can benefit from outpatient treatment, but need more intensive support than individual therapy alone. We take a collaborative, compassionate approach with the patient, their family and existing members of their treatment team. This level of care may be appropriate for patients who have completed an inpatient or residential program who want to ensure that the progress they have made can be maintained in their home environment. It also may be appropriate for individuals who have been unable to maintain healthy eating behavior with individual therapy alone. Practice making changes in a supportive environment can make a significant difference.

The treatment team has extensive experience working with personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety and trauma, which are frequently co-morbid with eating disorders. Diagnostic assessment, treatment and referral are available, as needed. We use an integrative treatment model that includes DBT skills training, process group, body image interventions, nutritional education and family support.

We believe it is important to include the family in treatment so that they can be supportive of the individual’s recovery, whenever possible.
